MORE EVENTS AND MOBILE TICKETS FUEL SPORTS TOURISM BOOM

An increase in athletic events, along with the rise of mobile ticketing, are among the drivers for global sports tourism’s increasing market growth.

This conclusion comes from the “Sports Tourism Market by Product, Type, and Category: Global Opportunity Analysis and Industry Forecast, 2021–2030”, a new report from Allied Market Research. The report predicts that the global sports tourism industry will be valued at around €1,593.83 billion globally by 2030, up from €285.79 billion in 2020.

There are many key reasons why the global sport tourism market is growing. The number of people attending sporting events has increased over the last decade, with visitors travelling long distances for their preferred events. There has also been an increase in the number of sporting events taking place across the globe. New tournaments such as UEFA’s Conference League are being held in existing venues, while there is active construction of new sporting sites, intended to spread the reach of sports in new communities.

Among other reasons why sports tourism is enjoying market growth is the rise in GDP and employment impact, along with the introduction of mobile ticketing, and increased popularity of sports tourism following the pandemic. Click here to read more facts and insight from the report.
