Portugal is one of Europe’s major destinations for oenology and wine tourism – a great reason for Visit Portugal to create a dedicated website, “Portuguese Wine Tourism”.
“Portuguese Wine Tourism” is a new digital platform with the task to position Portugal as a world-leading wine tourism destination. The platform provides a unique way to discover Portugal through its wines and embrace the culture of the country. It offers various experiences according to themes and activities.
Looking at the website under the section “experience”, professionals and consumers can find new ideas such as carriage rides with wine tasting, cycling tours in the vineyards of the Vinho Verde Region, a wine tourism cruise, an art experience inside a traditional cellar, a picnic in the vineyard, a blind testing or a workshop to learn about agro-tourism methods in wine. The website already proposes dozens of activities.
The digital platform also provides information about the history of wine-making in Portugal, events, information about each region as well as some local tips.
It will also help in promoting the new campaign “Portugal Pairs with Wine“. The marketing plan is part of an initiative under Portugal’s Wine Tourism Action Plan to raise awareness for visitors to venture into rural areas all-year-’round.
