INDIA’S TAMIL NADU TOURIST BOARD REVEALS PLANS TO PROMOTE ADVENTURE TOURISM IN 2022

The tourism department of Tamil Nadu, in India, has embarked on an ambitious plan to promote adventure tourism on a large scale in the state.

The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has taken the strategic decision to dedicate promotions in 2022 to adventure tourism. Tours, camping sites, home-stays in the numerous hills across the State, zip-lining and water sports are among the activities it will use to highlight what it has to offer keen adventure tourists.

The department is also planning to promote caravan tourism across the state, including Mahabalipuram, Kancheepuram, Udhagamandalam and Kodaikanal.

There are also plans to get private entrepreneurs on board to help promote the State’s adventure tourism sector on a Public, Private, Partnership (PPP) model. As part of the plan, an internationally renowned consultant has been employed to help attract more tourists to the state according to IANS, an Indian news agency.

The Tamil Nadu tourism department is also promoting water sports in a major way and is planning to convert the state into an international hub. While speaking to IANS Tamil Nadu State tourism minister M.Mathivethan explained: “We are galloping ahead with many tourism projects and we expect the state to move forward in the tourism sector. Modern, green tourism is the need of the hour and Tamil Nadu is well on its course.”
