Uganda listed among the best destinations to visit in 2023

Uganda is back at ITB Berlin with great news: the destination was recently listed in CNN’s “Where to travel in 2023: The best destinations to visit” feature, which spotlights destinations across the globe with travel offerings that are trending upwards.

There has been noticeable growth with Uganda’s travel offerings, as recognised by a new feature spotlighting the East African destination.

There is an eagerness to rebound Uganda’s tourism in the post-Covid world not just in major cities, but in every region of the country. Described by the tourism board as “the pearl of Africa,” there have been efforts to spotlight major cities like Kampala City, Jinja City and Fort Portal, as well as promoting the country’s natural beauty too.

The feature praises Uganda for looking beyond its popular, traditional attractions and activities, such as safari-based excursions and wildlife-spotting, promoting activities such as whitewater rafting on the Victoria Nile, or exploring the craters along the Virunga volcano chain.

Furthermore, Uganda aims at connecting travellers with local communities, opening up economic opportunities for Ugandan groups and offering tourists a taste of local cuisine and culture.

At its ITB stand, Uganda is also promoting the Uganda Cycling Trail launched last year.
