Regent Seven Seas Cruises has unveiled the design inspiration behind Prime 7, the signature steakhouse aboard Seven Seas Grandeur, which will embark on its maiden voyage in November 2023. Designed by Studio DADO, the venue has been completely reimagined, drawing inspiration from the classic New York steakhouse of the late 19th to early 20th century. The design combines traditional elegance with contemporary elements, creating a dining experience that caters to Regent’s sophisticated and discerning guests.
Andrea DeMarco, President of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, describes Prime 7 as the latest evolution in luxury dining at sea, representing the culmination of a 30-year heritage of culinary excellence. DeMarco expresses enthusiasm about showcasing the reimagined Prime 7 to their valued guests later this year. She emphasizes that Seven Seas Grandeur sets a new standard for luxury and elegance, with its dining venues being among the most refined and sophisticated in the luxury cruise industry.
Prime 7’s design captures the essence of New York City’s gentlemen industrialists, who sought the finest aged beef and exquisite Bordeaux. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a wall adorned with antique travel cases and black-and-white photography, reminiscent of a time when well-traveled diners were celebrated. Each bag, made of finely-tooled leather, serves as a testament to the exploration and adventure experienced by esteemed guests.
Yohandel Ruiz, one of the Founders of Studio DADO, explains that Prime 7 was designed to be comfortable, traditional, and classic, while infusing it with a fresh, contemporary feel. The journey through the restaurant begins in the vestibule, evoking the nostalgia of a traditional streetcar, with details resembling gentleman’s belting leather and a glass, lenticular screen above the bar showcasing the evolution of New York City from the 19th century to the present day.
According to Ruiz, Prime 7 rivals the renowned steakhouses found in New York and Chicago. Every element of the restaurant has been treated as a piece of art, from the intricately stitched ceilings to the whiskey decanters and fashion-inspired furniture. Every detail has been thoughtfully selected to transport guests to a familiar and cherished time.
As guests venture further into the restaurant, the ambiance transitions to a more residential setting, complete with Persian carpets, residential-style lighting, and vitrines displaying memorabilia that cleverly conceal server stations and back-of-house areas.
A Modern Menu of Classics
Prime 7’s menu pays homage to Regent’s storied history and commitment to culinary excellence. Guests can indulge in mouthwatering appetizers such as jumbo lump crab cakes, Black Angus Beef steak tartare with truffle-beer bread, and succulent jumbo shrimp with a citrus cocktail sauce.
The selection of steaks, all USDA prime beef dry-aged for 28 days, ensures exceptional taste and tenderness. Options include prime New York strip, porterhouse, and succulent filet mignon. For alternative entrées, guests can choose from indulgent whole Maine lobster, Dover sole, New Zealand double-cut lamb chops, or explore a variety of small plates, including spice-crusted seared ahi tuna steak and grilled chicken supreme.
