AdventureELEVATE sets foot in Jordan: pioneering a new era of sustainable travel

Since its initiation in North America in 2015, AdventureELEVATE, hosted by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), has set the bar for impactful global travel events.

This year’s AdventureELEVATE is taking place in Amman, Jordan, from 12th to 14th October 2023, converging travel enthusiasts, trade professionals, and media entities from around the globe.

Unlocking Jordan’s multifaceted adventure landscape

Surely Jordan is an excellent fit for the event, a country renowned for its harmonious blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. The nation beckons adventurers with numerous experiences: the serenity of pine forests, the enigmatic allure of the desert expanse in Wadi Rum, the architectural marvels of ancient Petra, and the aquatic wonders of the Red Sea in Aqaba. Dr. Abdalrazzaq Arabiyat, Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board, underscores the staggering $17 million economic impact achieved by hosting AdventureNEXT Near East for three years. He envisions that AdventureELEVATE will catalyse sustainable tourism growth across the region.

Building on the success of ATTA’s AdventureNEXT Near East branded event held in 2017, 2018, and 2019, the newly branded AdventureELEVATE Near East will convene an international audience of outbound tour operators, travel advisors, and media ready to build relationships with regional inbound operator suppliers from Jordan and surrounding countries.

Building bridges through sustainable tourism

The ethos of sustainable and cultural travel resonates deeply within the adventure community. Recent findings from ATTA’s 2022 Adventure Travel Snapshot Survey highlight travelers’ proclivity for unique experiences, lesser-known destinations, and immersing themselves in local cultures. With the Mediterranean regions gaining prominence, Jordan is poised to be a trendsetter. Malia Asfour, Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board North America, elaborates on how AdventureELEVATE offers an opportunity to invigorate the local communities still grappling with the pandemic’s aftermath. The event is aiming to not only showcase the country’s splendours but also foster genuine connections between travelers and locals, enriching the overall experience.
