MATTA showcases Malaysia’s varied tourism offer at ITB Berlin 2025
The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) is partnering with other Malaysian tourism institutions at ITB Berlin 2025. Vice President Inbound & Domestic, Ganneesh Ramaa, explains how he perceives the upcoming “Visit Malaysia 2026” and how to promote it at ITB Berlin.
The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) remains an important component of the Malaysia tourism and travel sector. MATTA boasts a membership of over 2,900 member organisations, comprised of local tour and travel organisations as well as numerous overseas affiliations. It is also the national umbrella representative body for the entire travel industry in the country. In addition to its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, MATTA has state chapters in 15 states and special administration areas, including among others Penang, Perak, the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Melaka, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak.
For MATTA, being present at ITB Berlin is a strategic move. “It gives exposure to the business of our members. ITB Berlin is one of the great opportunities for them to be in contact with the whole world. This is a good trade platform to showcase our country’s tourism development and for our membres to showcase their production,” said Ganneesh Ramaa. “We came to this 2025 edition with some 20 members”, he added.
MATTA’s presence at ITB Berlin is even more relevant this year as the country prepares to host its Visit Malaysia 2026 event. “Our positioning will be strengthened with Visit Malaysia 2026 as additional marketing campaigns will boost the destination appeal around the world. As an association, we give our entire support to VY2026,” explained Mr Ramaa.
