Anantara expands into Trojena – Saudi Arabia’s state of the art mountain destination
Minor Hotels, hotel owner, operator, and investor with a portfolio of 530 hotels across 56 countries in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, the United States, Africa, and the Indian Ocean, has announced the expansion of its luxury brand Anantara into Saudi Arabia. The new property will be located in Trojena, a unique mountain destination.
Situated in the heart of NEOM, 50 kilometers from the Gulf of Aqaba coast and at an altitude of 2,600 meters, Trojena will host the Gulf’s first outdoor ski resort, hosting world-class sporting events, art exhibitions, concerts, and cultural festivals. With its ideal location, mountainous landscape, and natural environment, Trojena will redefine luxury living and travel experiences as a global sanctuary for well-being. Like the rest of NEOM, Trojena will be powered by renewable energy while sustainably preserving the region’s rich cultural and environmental heritage.
The new 270-key Anantara property will offer a selection of rooms and suites, some with private pools, all with breathtaking views of the lake or mountains. Dining options will include two specialty restaurants, an all-day dining restaurant with a show kitchen, a café and tea lounge, as well as a rooftop majlis café.
Catering to discerning travelers with a wide range of interests, the resort will feature a range of facilities. These include an Anantara Spa with wet areas and separate treatment rooms for men and women, multiple hammams, a fitness center, a spectacular infinity pool with mountain and lake views, a stargazing terrace, an open-air cinema, kids and teens clubs, as well as a sports and activities pavilion offering a wide array of activities such as paddle tennis, camel and horseback rides, and guided hikes around the lake and mountain. It will also be accessible by helicopter, with its own on-site helipad, while meeting and event spaces will attract businesses and special events.
The Anantara resort will be situated in the Water Village, part of Trojena’s Valley Cluster. Currently under development, The Valley is an ambitious district within Trojena that will host three projects, featuring a 2.8-kilometer-long artificial freshwater lake. The Water Village will offer exclusive residential, hospitality, and commercial experiences and will house numerous shops and restaurants in what will be an exclusive and extravagant resort destination.
Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor International and CEO of Minor Hotels, stated, “We are thrilled to announce that a luxury Anantara property will soon be developed in the incredibly exciting new destination of Trojena, which is part of NEOM. Trojena is the perfect location for Anantara to bring its genuine hospitality and authentic luxury brand to life. We look forward to working with the NEOM team to deliver this new property within this highly sought-after new destination.”
“Trojena is redefining the concept of ultra-luxurious hospitality and year-round mountain tourism. With the addition of Anantara to our iconic Water Village, we will elevate the travel experience for the most discerning guests. Anantara will be a luxurious sanctuary on the shores of the new Trojena Lake, located in an area that will offer the Gulf’s first outdoor ski resort and host world-class sporting events, art exhibitions, concerts, and cultural festivals,” said Philip Gullett, Executive Director and Head of Region for Trojena.
Chris Newman, Executive Director of NEOM Hotel Development, commented, “Anantara has become synonymous with harmonious balance between luxury and nature, offering truly remarkable indigenous experiences to its guests. Concurrently, the company has successfully positioned and developed numerous new destinations worldwide. We are excited to collaborate with Minor Hotels and Trojena.
