Western Australia reconnects with continental Europe through Rome-Perth flight
The state is looking to attract travellers with its “authentic adventures” at ITB Berlin 2023.
Australian airline Qantas is once again offering direct flights between Rome and Perth, the capital of Western Australia after a successful inaugural start in 2022. The airline is building on the success of the direct connection between London and Perth introduced in 2018, showing the importance of Perth as the western gateway to Australia.
Qantas confirmed that the seasonal route will be operating again from June 17, 2023. The flight to Fiumicino International “Leonardo da Vinci” Airport will operate until October 3 2023. The route reduces the current fastest travel time to Perth by more than three hours to 16 hours flying time.
European travellers can experience why Western Australia has been named among the top 30 destinations of Lonely Planet’s annual Best in Travel 2023 ranking. “Western Australia covers more land mass than England, Spain, France, Italy and Germany combined, but less than one percent of the total population lives there. Space, tranquillity and scenery: that’s the Holy Trinity of Western Australia,” according to Lonely Planet.
The recognition delighted Western Australia’s Tourism Minister Roger Cook who said: “We all know that Western Australia is an exceptional place. Now the rest of the world is learning about our secret. Travellers are looking for authentic adventures they can’t experience anywhere else in the world. Western Australia is full of them.”
