“Magical Kenya” adventure tourism campaign in the spotlight at ITB Berlin 2025
On the second day of ITB Berlin 2025, Kenya hosted a cocktail party at its stand with music, drinks and Kenyan food, launching its position as a premier adventure destination. ITB Berlin News was there to cover the event.
Attracting a large turnout, Francis Gichaba, Chairman of the Kenyan Tourism Board, kicked off the festivities, with an invitation to discover Kenya, “The Real Deal”. He also drew attention the country’s “One Tourist, One Tree” campaign as it steps up its sustainability efforts.
Also in attendance was H.E. Ambassador Stella Mokaya Orina, Ambassador of Kenya to Germany, who invited guests to toast the relationships forged at ITB Berlin. Secretary of Tourism and Wildlife, John Ololtuaa, also underlined the importance of ITB Berlin in bringing the global village together, offering opportunities for investment and to see what other exhibitors are highlighting.
After a short video inviting visitors to discover authentic Kenyan adventures, Ben Kelliher, Chairman of Kenya’s Adventure Tourism Club, highlighted some of the country’s exciting tourism options, where nature, wildlife and adventure co-exist in harmony. In addition to the wildlife safaris Kenya is well-known for, visitors can kayak with hippos, paddleboard with dolphins, climb Mount Kenya and run with Kenya’s famous athletes.
Whether discovering Kenya’s savannas, deserts and pristine coastline on horseback, while hiking, or from a hot air balloon, the event underscored the country’s wide range of possibilities for experiencing its landscapes from the land, sea or sky.
The event underscored Kenya’s commitment to building a world-class adventure tourism destination and its mission to spark transformative journeys rooted in sustainability, culture and community.
