Serbia beckons Chinese travellers ahead of Belgrade EXPO 2027

With Belgrade gearing up to host EXPO 2027, Serbia is fast becoming one of Europe’s most enticing destinations for Chinese travellers, according to Marija Labović, Director of the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia. She points to Serbia’s distinction as the first European country to abolish visas for Chinese citizens, a move that has notably lifted arrivals and deepened cultural ties.

“Chinese guests feel genuinely welcomed here,” Labović says. “They value our safety, authentic culture and warm hospitality.”

Direct flights from Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou make the journey straightforward. Once there, visitors can wander the Đerdap Gorge along the Danube, step back in time at Lepenski Vir, a site older than Egypt’s pyramids, and soak up Belgrade’s buzzing city life, where the Sava meets the Danube.

From UNESCO sites to wellness retreats and rich gastronomy, Serbia offers a heady mix of ancient heritage and modern living at Europe’s crossroads.
