Galicia 2021-22: Celebrating the Way of St James

This year, reaching the end of the Way of Saint James in Galicia has a double reward.

In addition to the satisfaction of completing the first European Cultural Itinerary and sharing this unique experience with people from all over the world, travellers also have the chance to take part in the Xacobeo 2021-22. The programme is packed with cultural and leisure activities to suit all tastes and has been created to celebrate the Holy Year, extended to 2022 due to the influence of Covid-19 on travel and mass events.

Since the Middle Ages, pilgrims have flocked to Galicia from around the world, drawn by the challenge of reaching the end of the Way of Saint James and “the end of the known world”, which until the Renaissance was considered to be Finisterre, situated on the Galician coast and one of the Continent’s westernmost points.

Galicia wishes to share the celebrations to mark the Xacobeo 2021-22 with all those who visit, offering them a rich programme including cultural events, exhibitions, encounters with intellectuals, concerts and a whole host of other activities organised throughout the year in Galician towns and cities.
