QUITO SERVES UP NEW APPROACH TO TOURISM

With the slogan “Go Slow be Smart”, the Ecuadorian capital and World Peace Routes is embracing the trend of slow travel.

Quito Turismo and World Peace Routes are collaborating to promote alternatives to traditional tourism and put Quito’s slow tourism offering on the map, at a national and international level. Slow tourism – the art of traveling slowly – will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the local culture, music and food, while discovering the destination, without any time pressures.

Commonly described as being at the centre of the world, Quito has various attractions and experiences aligned with this new ‘slower’ way of travelling.

Iglesia de la Compañía

Distinguished by its gold leaf decoration, the Iglesia de la Compañía (Church of the Company), is one of Latin America’s priceless architectural wonders. Guided tours and gastronomic experiences make it a popular destination for travellers looking to immerse themselves in the culture of Quito.

Hotel Mamá Cuchara

With its performances of traditional instruments and colorful corridors, the Hotel Mamá Cuchara is firmly committed to slow tourism. Visitors can be transported back in time by listening to the legends of the city, as told by one of the hotel’s hosts.

La Cuchara Ecuadorian Gallery

Fine organic chocolate and Ecuadorian coffee are the staples of La Cuchara Ecuadorian Gallery, a space which reflects the history of Quito through gastronomy and enriches the travel experience through tastings of typical products and interactive workshops.
