The German region of Saxony has a broad range of high-quality offers for families, with 137 accommodations, leisure facilities and locations across the region having been certified “Family Friendly”.
Created in 2005 by the Tourismus Marketing Gesellschaft Sachsen (TMGS), the brand “Family Holidays in Saxony” is going from strength to strength. The quality certification has been awarded to 137 accommodations, leisure facilities and locations. For tour operators and travel companies the label is a guarantee of providing the best conditions for carefree holidays for families. The award is given when a number of criteria has been fulfilled and audited by an independent agency.
“I am very pleased that a total of 137 accommodations, leisure facilities and locations in Saxony are now certified as ‘Family Friendly’ and are thus specifically geared to the needs of families. Family holidays are an important area for Saxon tourism. Especially after the difficult times caused by the pandemic, the commitment of our Saxon hosts and companies cannot be appreciated highly enough,” told recently during an award ceremony Saxony’s Minister of State for Culture and Tourism, Barbara Klepsch.
For example, a destination must have at least one family-friendly accommodation and a recreational facility with visible child-friendly design elements. Paths must be suitable for buggies and at least one publicly accessible playground with a technical certification of its equipment and signs as a dog-free zone. 12 destinations have been awarded the certification, including Dresden, Bautzen, Leipzig, Meissen, Görlitz as well as areas of Saxon Switzerland.
Located in the centre east of Germany, Saxony is an ideal destination for Asian families wanting to get the best of their trip, from exceptional historical sites to preserved landscapes and thrilling outdoor experiences.
