Daytrip presents the latest chapter in its global expansion at ITB Berlin
Daytrip continues to extend its private door-to-door car transfer service, closing a $10M Series B round of funding and expanding into India
The global travel platform, Daytrip, which allows travelers to book private transfers with English-speaking drivers and optional sights seeing stops in over 110 countries, is looking towards further growth. Already available across six continents through a network of over 7,000+ English-speaking drivers, Daytrip is at ITB Berlin, sharing its latest milestones, such as the Series B investment round it closed in January led by Taiwania Capital, with participation from existing investors Euroventures, J&T Ventures and N1.
“Daytrip started with the idea that people want more than a transfer, they want an experience when going places and we are excited that our customers are choosing us for this reason and that our new investor, Taiwania Capital, believes in our product and supports us as we open the platform to millions of travelers around the world,” said Tomáš Turek, Co-Founder and CEO of Daytrip.
110+ countries and counting
The company says the additional injection of capital will enable it to further build the platform, establish strategic partnerships with key industry leaders, and expand its operations to even more new countries including the United States. “We have truly global goals with Daytrip and it is so satisfying to see the brand’s expanding footprint and positive impact as we are now available in more than 110 countries worldwide,” Mr Turek asserted.
One of Daytrip’s new destinations is India where the platform announced the expansion of its operations earlier this month, identifying the country as a major global market where transfers can sometimes be difficult for tourists. “India is an important region for Daytrip thanks to increasing opportunities for both inbound and outbound tourism,” said Jan Prokop, Co-Founder and Head of Driver Operations at Daytrip. “India is not the easiest country to organise transfers in, and Daytrip makes it easier for travellers to safely explore the region by offering an easy-to-use platform for booking private car transportation with drivers who speak English.”
A better way to travel between cities
Daytrip was created in 2015 when founders Tomáš Turek, Markéta Bláhová, Valeriia Pshenychna, Jan Prokop, and Jiří Sváček decided there had to be an easier way to travel between cities. They came up with a better option: door-to-door rides in a private car with professional, English-speaking drivers. They then added the option to visit curated sightseeing stops.
Since then, Daytrip’s growing network of drivers has helped over 850,000 people transform their travel day into a holiday. With up to 40,000 possible routes that travellers can customise as they choose, the platform allows them to discover places they might not have otherwise visited using typical transfer options.
Beyond extending its service geographically, Daytrip, which has consistently maintained a five-star rating on Tripadvisor, has also expanded its business by partnering with companies such as Mozio, Visa, Frosch. The firm says its overarching goal is to simplify travel for people, enrich their experiences, and contribute to alleviating the impacts of mass tourism.
