Summer Island Maldives, an exclusive 4 star, “barefoot” island resort located in the North Male’ atoll, celebrated its seventh anniversary on 1 March 2022 with a “Summerversary” cocktail party with live music and DJ mixes.
Summer Island Maldives was unveiled in 2015, following extensive renovations and a re-branding. The 4 star island resort is located on Ziyaaraiyfushi island in the North Male’ atoll, just a 45 minutes speedboat ride from the airport.
Summer Island Maldives features pristine beaches and an affordable ‘barefoot luxury’ experience. The resort has Beach Villas, Garden Villas and Water Villas, and boasts an over-water “Hiya” restaurant and “Firuma” spa, which offers a wide range of wellness treatments.
“It’s amazing how far we have come in just seven years. We managed not only to provide exemplary services to our guests but also set an example in terms of sustainable tourism. This is truly the result of the tremendous hard work of all our staff,” said Resort Manager Mariya Shareef.
The resort is home to the world’s largest 3D printed reef, which shows how new materials might be used to help coral reefs adapt to climate change. Other environmental initiatives include a ban on all single-use plastic and a shift to solar power.
The resort was recently awarded the Holiday Check Special Award for being among the top 10 most popular resorts in the Maldives. It was also awarded South Asia’s Leading Beach Resort and Maldives’ Leading Beach Resort at the 2017, 2018 and 2019 SATA awards.
