MEXICAN CARIBBEAN TOURISM BOARD PREPARES FOR RECOVERY

Virtual events aimed at German-speaking countries are being organised by the Mexican Caribbean Tourism Board as part of a new marketing push.

The first virtual Mexican Caribbean roadshow was attended by travel agencies and tour operators from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg, who used the event to exchange ideas and make contacts, ahead of a hopeful imminent restart of tourism.

The event, which was held on an exclusive virtual-interactive event platform, consisted of lectures, networking sessions and a question-and-answer session.

Representatives from the Mexican Caribbean presented the travel highlights, including beautiful beaches, caves, culture and archeology, as well as a variety of cuisine and outdoor activities.

Lizzie Cole, Executive Director for National and International Promotion of the Mexican Caribbean, says the Mexican Caribbean is well prepared to receive international guests in compliance with all strict health and safety guidelines. She added: “We have everything a guest expects from the Caribbean as a travel destination, plus everything that defines Mexico in terms of culture and tradition. We have 1,000 years of history, wonderful beaches, the best connections and the roadshowbest infrastructure in the entire Caribbean – and all of this combined in a single destination: the Mexican Caribbean.”

Ten hotels from the Mexican Caribbean took part in the virtual event. One of the programme components was a presentation by the Lufthansa Group, from which participants learned more about direct connections from Frankfurt and Zurich to the Mexican Caribbean.
