JETBLUE BECOMES FIRST AIRLINE TO OFFER A NONSTOP SERVICE FROM NEW YORK TO VANCOUVER

JetBlue has officially launched a new flight route to Canada becoming the only airline to offer a nonstop service from New York to Vancouver.

The new award winning service offers low fare daily flights between JFK International and Vancouver International airports, exclusively via JetBlue.com, with the first arriving on Thursday evening.

Vancouver is one of more than half a dozen recently added to its route map and it marks the airline’s first destination in Canada, while diversifying its New York focus city strategy.

The company is continuing to advance its transcontinental growth strategy with more than 30 international destinations in more than two dozen countries. In 2022, almost 500 daily departures will be available from New York’s three major airports.

President and CEO destination Vancouver Royce Chwin said: “JetBlue’s new direct service to JFK means easier access from an important east coast market and is another significant step for Vancouver towards rebuilding our visitor economy.

“Nonstop air service from key North American cities makes our city an even more appealing destination for business events and for leisure travellers. JetBlue couldn’t have made a better choice as its first Canadian destination than Vancouver.”

Departing from JFK at 6.59pm each day, flight B6603 takes six and a half hours travelling west to Vancouver and landing just before 10.30pm. The return flight takes off at 11.30pm and travels through the night, arriving at JFK at 7.48am the following day.

Russell Atkinson, director of air service development at Vancouver Airport Authority, said: “JetBlue brings another direct link between Vancouver and New York City. The new nonstop service to JFK is an important connection between our two regions for both business and leisure travel, further strengthening YVR’s position as a diverse hub and directly benefiting our community and the economy that supports it.”
