Mauritius offers travellers quality leisure time and authentic luxury experiences

The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority is at ITB Berlin 2025 together with 39 Mauritian partners including airlines, hotels, destination management companies, among others. ITB Berlin News spoke with Claire Le Lay, Chairperson Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, about Mauritius’ tourism goals and priorities at the show this year.

What are some of your main goals for tourism to Mauritius in 2025?
Our goals include increasing visibility while boosting low-season visits with a year-round destination campaign. We’ll enhance our digital presence through social media and diversify experiences by offering a calendar of cultural, sports, wellness, golf, and gastronomy events.

What are some of the priorities of travellers today?  How to meet these expectations?
Today’s travellers, especially from Germany, seek quality leisure time and value authentic experiences that create lasting memories. Mauritius offers a kaleidoscope of activities from hiking through national parks and climbing mountains to tasting diverse cuisine and enjoying sunrise yoga sessions. Our island is ideal for meaningful interactions, allowing visitors to embrace every energy—calming, euphoric, curious, or adventurous.

What events are coming up in 2025 that will be a draw for tourism to Mauritius?
In 2025, we will launch a new campaign to boost Mauritius’ global visibility and produce content that highlights the island as a “cool” winter destination. Our efforts will be supported by a strong social media strategy targeting global markets, along with the promotion of special events. Additionally, we will collaborate on joint promotional campaigns with airlines and trade partners to further drive tourism.

Why is it important for you to participate at ITB Berlin?
ITB Berlin is a key platform to promote Mauritius, showcasing its beaches, culture, luxury resorts, and eco-tourism. It offers opportunities to expand business, build partnerships, and explore new markets, while strengthening our existing relationships. The event also helps us stay updated on travel trends and technologies to refine strategies for attracting international tourists.
