22 NORTH AMERICAN CITIES BATTLE TO HOST THE 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP

From a total of 17 US metropolises, 11 are due to be selected to host the coveted FIFA World Cup 2026 – to be held in North America. Another two cities in Canada and three in Mexico will also be part of the football event.

In early 2022, FIFA in Zurich will announce the host cities for the Football World Cup 2026. Set across North America, a total number of 80 matches will be divided into 60 in the United States, 10 in Canada and 10 in Mexico.

Originally, the cup was due to take place in ten cities across the United States and three cities each in Canada and Mexico. However Montreal decided in early July to drop out. Instead, an 11th city in the United States will host some matches.

Cities running to host the FIFA World Cup are:

In the United States – Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York/New Jersey, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle and Washington DC; in Canada – Edmonton and Toronto; and in Mexico – Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey.

According to the organisers, the final is allocated to New York/New Jersey (MetLife Stadium). The opening match should be held in Los Angeles or Mexico City, and the semi-finals should take place in Atlanta and Dallas.
