RADISSON BLU OPENS FIRST PROPERTY IN BARCELONA, WITH STRONG CSR COMMITMENT

The Radisson Hotel Group has opened its first property under the Radisson Blu brand in Barcelona.

The Radisson Blu 1882 Hotel, Barcelona Sagrada Familia is located in the Catalan capital’s Gracia district.

The hotel notably has a Biosphere certification, which guarantees compliance with the principles of sustainability and continuous improvement, through a private, voluntary and independent certification system.

As well as this, the hotel is committed to diverse corporate social responsibility projects in its neighbourhood.

Furthermore, the hotel has been given Gold level LEED certification, which recognises sustainable elements like a vertical garden featuring 3,000 plants. Said garden apparently filters 10kg of dust every year, generating oxygen for up to 80 people.

In terms of the hotel itself, the Radisson Blu 1882 features 182 rooms across categories including standard, premium and family. There are four restaurants and bars, which centre around “sustainable, balanced and healthy gastronomy”. The El Cel Bar terrace and pool adorns the rooftop, with inspiring views of Barcelona’s skyline.

“It’s a privilege to introduce the Radisson Blu brand to Barcelona, one of the world’s most vibrant cities”, said Tom Flanagan Karttunen, area senior vice president Northern and Western Europe, Radisson Hotel Group. “The hotel’s unbelievable location with panoramic views from its rooftop terrace make this hotel a unique place to stay and explore the city. It’s a modern hotel with lots of style and a cozy and cosmopolitan feel”.
