LUXURY AND ADVENTURE COME TOGETHER IN THE ANTARCTIC WITH A NEW OFFERING FROM QUARK EXPEDITIONS

Quark Expeditions are preparing to set-off with their brand-new ultra-luxurious polar vessel, Ultramarine, for the clear, chilly waters of the Antarctic.

The official handover of the technologically-advanced ship took place in Split, Croatia, in April, at the Brodosplit shipyard team.

Andrew White, President of Quark Expeditions describes the Ultramarine as a “game-changing vessel”.

The two H145 helicopters, operated from two heliports, will allow more passengers to simultaneously experience new destinations accessible only by air, and to enjoy more unique aerial perspectives of the Polar Regions than on any other ship.

The 128-metre ship accommodates 199 guests. With its two helicopters and 20 quick-deploy Zodiacs, it offers the most robust portfolio of off-ship adventure options in the industry, allowing guests to customise their polar experience. These include flightseeing, heli-hiking and helicopter-supported alpine kayaking, among others.

The vessel’s sustainability features include the Micro Auto Gasification System (MAGS), which is the industry-leading system that converts waste into energy at the site that it’s generated.

“Our Antarctic 22/23 season promises to be one of the best so far,” said White. “We’re offering nine itineraries—with 40 departures— to Antarctica, the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Patagonia, where guests can see incredible wildlife and spectacular landscapes. We’re excited that our game-changing vessel, Ultramarine, features prominently in this upcoming season.”
