RADISSON TO OPEN AT NEW BEIJING’S DAXING AIRPORT IN 2022

Radisson Hotel Group continues to bet strongly on China and its booming domestic market. The hotel group has announced it will open a new property at Beijing Daxing international airport in 2022. This will follow a recently opened property in Nanjing. The group also plans to move to Changyuan, in Henan province.

The Radisson Collection Resort, Nanjing, is a chic new five-star retreat located within Jiangsu Horticultural Exposition Park. Nestled on the banks of a lake and surrounded by floral gardens, hot springs and mountains, Radisson Collection Resort, Nanjing is inspired by the scenery of its destination. It offers 151 rooms and suites with views over the garden or the lake.

And the group has now signed on for another property. It will manage the brand-new Radisson hotel at Beijing Daxing International Airport, the new gateway of the Chinese capital. Opened in 2019, Daxing was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. It is expected to handle 72 million passengers per year by 2025, rising to 100 million in the longer term.

Scheduled to start welcoming guests in the first quarter of 2022, the Radisson Beijing Daxing Airport will be an upscale hotel located within the Airport Economic Zone, just 1.2km from the international terminal. The hotel will form part of an eco-friendly, mixed-use development that will include upon completion various hotels, grade A offices and retail outlets. It will also look to play a role in hosting athletes and attendees during the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022.

The 239-key hotel will feature contemporary-style rooms averaging 32 sq m and suites up to 109 sq m which will offer the Radisson brand’s signature sleep experience. The hotel will have a strong MICE element. Six function spaces include an intimate boardroom, four meeting rooms and an impressive 300-pax ballroom, supported by a business centre and VIP reception area. A gym, an indoor pool, yoga room and retail boutiques as well as international and Chinese food outlets will be available.

“We are delighted to announce this agreement for Radisson Hotel Beijing Daxing Airport, which will become an integral part of Daxing new aerotropolis,” said Hui Wu, Executive Director & Legal Representative, Kaiyuan Shenggang Hotel Management (Beijing) Co., Ltd. “The development of Daxing International Airport reflects China’s global outlook and confidence in the future. To become the first full-service international hotel in the airport zone demonstrates the strength of the Radisson brand. This important hotel will be a great addition to our portfolio in China, further strengthening our reputation among partners and guests,” said Katerina Giannouka, President, Asia Pacific, Radisson Hotel Group. It gives us great pleasure to partner with Radisson Hotel Group on this project. Radisson is one of the most renowned and respected brands in the hotel industry, and its status will help to attract domestic and international travellers alike, while also ensuring the highest standards of hospitality. We look forward to working together as we move towards the opening of Radisson Hotel Beijing Daxing Airport in 2022,”

Looking ahead, Radisson Hotel Group will continue to accelerate its expansion in China, with a multi-brand growth strategy that will include new openings in key cities, provincial capitals, transport hubs, amusement parks, industrial zones and retail zones all across the country.

Radisson Hotel Group has announced other new projects in China. The company recently signed a new Radisson Blu property that will become the first internationally branded upper-upscale hotel in Changyuan, a rapidly emerging city in Henan province.  Currently under construction and scheduled to open its doors in the fourth quarter of 2024, Radisson Blu Hotel, Changyuan will form part a major new mixed-use project in the city’s new CBD, surrounded by office buildings, retail malls, residences and conference facilities.
