THAI LUXURY HOTEL GROUP SETS SIGHTS ON CHINA

Thailand’s luxury hotel group Dusit International is making major new inroads to China. The hotel operator has signed a strategic partnership with Paxton Vacances Hotel Management Group to operate and develop Dusit Princess Hotels and Resorts in China.

In line with Dusit’s strategy for sustainable and profitable growth, which includes expanding its presence in key locations throughout China, the partnership will see Paxton seek to sign Dusit-branded properties in major domestic destinations where Dusit has yet to have a presence. Active in China since 2010, Paxton currently operates more than 30 hotels under five brands in the country.

While international travel is expected to rebound slowly following the global COVID-19 pandemic, domestic tourism in China has already bounced back strong and demand for quality leisure and wellness holiday destinations is high.

According to a recent report from the China Tourism Academy, China’s domestic tourism market is expected to receive 10 billion visitors per year on average, with annual revenue reaching 10 trillion yuan (approx. €1.3 trillion) in the next five years.

At the same time, Dusit has signed a management agreement with Fengshun Jindebao Kaiyue International Hot Springs Hotel Co, Ltd, to rebrand and manage its property under the new name of Dusit Princess Hot Springs Resort Fengshun, Guangdong, starting this April.

The resort, which first opened in 2014, comprises 190 well-appointed guest rooms and suites, plus an all-day dining restaurant, a grand ballroom, and a hot springs centre with spa.

“We are delighted to continue our expansion in China where the hotel situation is positive with a strong domestic market,” said Lim Boon Kwee, Chief Operating Officer, Dusit International. “With its great location, modern facilities, and impressive hot springs experience, Dusit Princess Hot Springs Resort Fengshun, Guangdong, has all the ingredients in place to meet the needs of business and leisure travellers alike. The property is the perfect vehicle for our Dusit Princess brand, and we look forward to making it a resounding success.”

Qiu Shao Wu, Legal Representative of Fengshun Jindebao Kaiyue International Hot Springs Hotel, said, “By bringing Dusit’s unique brand of Thai-inspired gracious hospitality to Fengshun, our rebranded property will set new benchmarks for service, quality and excellence in the local market. We are confident it will quickly become a leader in its respective segment.”

Other new Dusit properties set to open this year in China include Dusit Devarana Hot Springs Resort Wanfo Lake, Anhui; Dusit Princess Fuzhou, Fujian; and Dusit Princess Residences Ganzhou, Jiangxi.
